Excavator fitted with Engcon Tilt Rotator – new to CP Hire

Kubota KX085-5 with Engcon EC209 tilt rotator – new to our Port Talbot depot

Our newest depot at Kenfig Industrial Estate in Port Talbot, South Wales has welcomed its first machine equipped with an Engcon EC209 tilt rotator. While the KX085-5 is a familiar face in our fleet, this setup is special because of the tilt‑rotator fitted to the boom. The Engcon system transforms an ordinary excavator into an incredibly versatile tool carrier.

Why a tilt‑rotator?

A tilt rotator acts as a wrist between the excavator and the bucket. The Engcon EC209 model fitted here is designed for 6‑9 tonne machines (13,200–19,800 lb). It provides ±45° tilt and infinite rotation, allowing the operator to angle and spin attachments in any direction without repositioning the base machine. This dramatically reduces the number of machine movements and lets you work in tight spaces or around obstacles with ease.

Built‑in quick coupler convenience

Engcon integrates its EC‑Oil automatic quick coupler system, which automatically connects hydraulic tools without leaving the cab when paired with the S45 quick coupler and DC2 control system. This means the operator can switch between buckets, grabs or other hydraulic attachments in seconds, improving productivity and reducing downtime.

Safety is a priority too. The Q‑Safe quick coupler locks attachments securely, and the QSC locking system prevents dropped or improperly connected buckets. Load‑holding valves on the tilt cylinders and hardened piston rods further enhance reliability.

Ready for multiple tools and guidance systems

The EC209 comes ready to accept a detachable grabber (GRD) and rotating brush (SWD), broadening your choice of attachments. It also has a rotation sensor for integration with excavator guidance systems and a central lubrication point so the entire tilt rotator can be greased from a single grease nipple. Its DC2 proportional control system offers variable control, remote support capability and optional track/wheel steering and boom slew control.

Productivity and flexibility on site

Adding a tilt rotator to a mid‑sized excavator like the KX085‑5 transforms how you work. Operators can dig around obstacles, grade slopes, trim banks, handle materials with a grab or brush and work parallel to trenches without constantly moving the base machine. Engcon emphasises that fewer machine transits and less manual work increase safety and efficiency, while time saved means lower fuel consumption and less wear on the machine.

Available across our depot network

This new combination is based at our Port Talbot depot, but tilt‑rotator excavators can be hired across the entire CP Hire depot network. If you’re looking for a versatile machine that reduces ground disturbance and speeds up tricky excavation tasks, our Kubota KX085-5 with an Engcon EC209 tilt rotator is the perfect solution.
