award winning & accredited

Like many companies we are always looking to continuously improve. Gaining accreditations for wider areas of the construction industry not only helps us on this journey but also gives our customers further support and knowledge on their worksite.

Safety is of paramount importance throughout our industry and this is no different within CP Hire. All our depots are Safehire accredited through the Hire Association of Europe. Furthermore we are also a Safe Contractor and Safety in Procurement qualified company.

All our depots go through a rigorous internal quarterly audit and we would welcome the chance to talk you through our process. Carrying RISQS accreditation enables us to support trackside for the huge volume of rail infrastructure works over the next decade and beyond.

Of course, being recognised by our peers and those outside our sector for our growth, stability and company culture is always rewarding. We have won a number of awards that recognises the huge team effort from all our staff which confirms we are the number one choice for many customers within the industry.

Our achievements

Customer and operational safety are of paramount importance to us. We are committed to delivering service excellence in all its forms. By being members of construction trade bodies, it enables us to ensure conformity that not only satisfies ourselves but is a proven yard-stick from outside of our business too. We work closely with Hire Association Europe, our industry trade institution, planning various types of regulatory audits that are needed to pass their required levels of membership.

Fast Track 100

The Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 league table ranks Britain’s 100 private companies with the fastest-growing sales over their latest three years.

John Rawnsley, 49, worked for years in finance and manufacturing before spotting the opportunity to start his own company at the end of the recession. With the help of co-founders Andrew Hutchinson, 43, and brother David, 39 — who run a similar business in Northern Ireland — CP Hire was launched in 2012 from a Portakabin. The Cardiff-based firm hires out construction machinery, such as excavators, trailers and dumper lorries; it has more than 2,000 vehicles, available from its five depots, based from Birmingham to Newbury; the firm also offers consulting and data collection services on projects. It achieved sales of £12.7m in 2019, and plans to invest in more machinery and to open a new depot in Hertfordshire next year.

hire association europe

Hire Association Europe (HAE) was formed in 1974 and often referred to as The Association by its members.  HAE is an industry-leading trade body representing plant, tool and equipment hire with a membership base of 900 members based in the UK, Europe and across other parts of the world.

HAE assists businesses, from sole traders to larger independent and privately owned organisations, by providing operational resources to support the hire industry.  Membership provides access to products and services covering all aspects of hire, including terms & conditions, safety checks, publicity, equipment, responsibilities and general day-to-day requirements. Accompanying services include legal advice, training, publicity, safety checks, leaflets, lobbying and finance advice; necessary documentation and information that will hold organisations in better stead for the long term. In addition, safeguarding can also be made easier for members, who have access to HAE’s essential range of health & safety, economical and credit control services.

Buyers of products and services throughout the GB rail industry use RSSB RISQS as their supplier qualification service.

In short they help suppliers sell in to the GB rail industry by providing an open, fair and transparent way for them to be formally recognised as capable providers of products and services.

This means they support Network Rail, Transport for London, passenger and freight operating companies, rolling stock organisations, main infrastructure contractors and many other buying organisations in the management of supply chain risk.

RISQS embraces rail’s qualification arrangements. RISQS is industry-owned and governed, sponsored by a committee of representatives from across the rail industry.
