CP Hire Boosts Fleet with Epiroc Grabs and Compactors

CPHire Boosts Fleet with Epiroc Grabs & Compactors for 814‑Ton Excavators

CP Hire has expanded its digger attachment fleet with the addition of Epiroc hydraulic grabs and excavator compactors. Designed for 8‑ton and 14‑ton excavators, these new tools bring greater efficiency to sorting, demolition and soil compaction tasks across the company’s network in South Wales and Bristol.

Precision handling with MG‑Series multi‑grapples

Epiroc’s multi‑grapple (MG) range is purpose‑built for sorting and demolition work. The MG 400 grab is suited to 8‑ton excavators, while the larger MG 800 serves 14‑ton machines. Each model uses large hydraulic cylinders that deliver high closing forces and short cycle times, making them ideal for loading rubble and demolishing wooden and masonry structures. The MG 800, for instance, weighs about 1,818 lb (825 kg) and provides roughly 3.8 t of closing force, fitting carriers in the 9‑ to 16‑ton class

The MG grapples come with a standard 360‑degree hydraulic rotator for precise positioning    HARDOX® blades and robust construction ensure a solid grip and constant closing force, while an open lattice jaw design allows loose debris to fall through, improving visibility and reducing the risk of jams. Side cover blades for handling finer materials or removable teeth for tougher jobs can be mounted on these grapples.

Safe and efficient soil compaction with HC‑Series plates

To complement the grabs, CP Hire’s fleet now includes Epiroc hydraulic compactors. The HC 350 R model suits 8‑ton excavators, and the HC 850 R covers machines up to 14 tons. Hydraulic compactors are designed to compact soil in trenches, ground-levelling jobs and embankment construction; they excel on slopes or in confined spaces where self‑propelled rollers cannot operate. Machine‑driven compaction is quick and economical, and the attachments can be swapped via standard quick couplers so the same excavator can fill and compact without waiting for separate machines.

Safety and comfort are important advantages. Compactor attachments create little noise and remove the need for workers to stand in the trench, enhancing safety. Optional continuous rotation devices simplify positioning even in hard‑to‑access terrain. Epiroc’s product manager notes that compactors are particularly effective for trenching, ground‑levelling and embankment work, and they are quieter and safer than walk‑behind units.

Why Epiroc?

Epiroc’s hydraulic attachments are engineered for durability. The grapple housings use Hardox steel and heat‑treated chromed cylinder rods to withstand tough conditions, and all major components are made from high‑strength carbon steel. Hydraulic grabs feature guarded cylinders and built‑in rotation protection to reduce wear on both the attachment and the carrier. Compactors have bottom plates made of wear‑resistant steel and vibration units driven by hydraulic motors, with rubber isolators to prevent vibrations from reaching the excavator.

Serving customers across the network

These new attachments are now available throughout CP Hire’s depots across South Wales, Bristol and Northern Ireland. The company’s hydraulic compactor listing notes that the attachment is designed for “effectively compacting soil in trenches, steep slopes and general ground levelling”. Customers can hire grabs and compactors along with excavators or individually, ensuring the right tool for each job. With robust construction and user‑friendly features, the Epiroc MG and HC series should help contractors reduce manual work, enhance safety and improve productivity on site.
